Our Bible teaching program for 2008 at FNC will have a very clear focus:
Over the course of the year, we will be working our way through the whole of the book of Acts – in fact it might take us a bit longer than that!

We’ll be breaking Acts down into four ‘chunks’ and doing other parts of the Bible and topical series in between.
Here’s the breakdown:

a) Acts 1-9 To the ends of the earth – 9 parts
b) Acts 10-15 A gospel for the gentiles – 4 parts
c) Acts 16-19 – Postcards from Paul – 8 parts
d) Acts 20-25 – Chained messenger, unchained message – 5 parts

The third section ‘Postcards from Paul’ should be particularly interesting. The Gentile mission really gets under way with the conversion of Paul, who is the focus of what is often called “the second missionary journey” in Acts 16 to 19.

The significant thing about this journey, though, isn’t so much that it’s his second – rather, in these four chapters, we meet in real life the people who are to later become the recipients of many of Paul’s letters. And that’s the thrust of the “Postcards from Paul” section.
After we follow Paul on each stage of his journey from Philippi to Thessalonica, through Berea and Athens to Corinth and Ephesus, we pause at each stage to look at the letters Paul wrote back to the churches he’d established.
In other words, it won’t really just be dealing with a section of Acts – it also encompasses Philippians, 1 Thessalonians, 1 Corinthians and Ephesians. Naturally, the letters won’t be covered in great depth. Rather, we simply look for points of contact between the events in Acts, and Paul’s message in the Epistles – and there are many!

Other parts of the Bible
Depending on how the year unfolds, other parts of the Bible that we are looking at covering will be:

  • Ecclesiastes
  • Joshua/Judges
  • More of Matthew’s gospel
  • Some topical talks.

If you have some books of the Bible or ideas for topical talks that you would to see covered, leave a comment below.
