FNC is the people at The Factory every Sunday night!
And this is the first in what we hope will be a long line of interviews and other contributions that speak of the amazing work that God does in the lives of FNCers.

Name: Joshua M.
How long have you been a member of FNC?
I can’t remeber exactly when I made the change from Winmalee morning. Sometime in early high school, around 5 or 6 years ago.
What ministries are you involved in?
I lead at Elison Kids’ Club, play guitar at the Factory, and I’m leading a bible study group on Tuesday nights with some guys from my year at school. Outside of SWAC I’m a commitee member of the Christian group at UWS (CBM) and as part of that I co-lead a Growth Group, and run a prayer meeting, along with other things that come up.
Which one do you enjoy the most?
I really enjoy playing music at church because I love hearing and playing music. But I also really enjoy being involved at Uni. Our group at UWS is pretty small (compared with other uni’s in Sydney – though not compared with some groups around the world), so it’s hard to have a massive presence on campus. But I really enjoy that ministry because it’s both training/learning God’s word, and then implementing it in various ways. We have a couple of mission weeks throughout the year where we do walk up evangelism, hold evangelistic talks, create thought provoking displays, have bbq’s where we try to form relationships with non-Christians, and hand out newspapers we’ve written. If you’re at uni or heading to uni, get involved with the Christian group.
What do you do during the week?
Go to uni. Do pressing uni work. Play basketball. Write songs. Read good Christian books. Listen to CDs. Watch movies. Drive.
What’s your favourite bit of the Bible and why?
I like Hebrew 9:27-28. It has both the harsh reality that ‘man is destined to die once and after that to face judgment’, but it also has a the great Christian message that ‘Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him’. A message that Christians need to keep remembering.
Are you a tea, coffee or (shudder!) Coke/Pepsi man?
It’s a cop out, but I really like all of these drinks. Unfortunately for my health though, I drink Coke more than the others by far.
What do you appreciate most about FNC?
The people. I love looking across church and seeing that most people have shown up. And talking to people afterwards isn’t too bad either.
What do you do in your spare time?
I write songs and play them and record them. I’m into Bob Dylan’s music and sometimes I try to emulate his style.
What would you like to see more of at FNC?
I’d like to see people continue to show up each week, and I’d like to see people getting to know different people outside their normal group of friends. While I enjoy looking out and seeing everyone each week, it’s a reminder that there are heaps of people left for me to meet. After all there aren’t many biological brothers and sisters who don’t know each others names, how much more, then, should we as brothers and sisters in Christ know each other.

1Josh, I love your songs! Keep writing, use your God-given gift, give all the glory to the Lord Jesus. May he be pleased to reflect his character in all that you do and all that you are.

2Josh thankyou for your faithfulness in serving us at FNC through music, using your gifts to help others praise God in song, I love our FNC music and know the amount of time that goes into preparation and rehearsal. It’s great that you are looking around at church for new people to talk to. Hope the trip to Narrabri was a blessing to you.
